ADSS Cable Structure and Design
ADSS cable adopts a loose tube stranded construction for reliable fiber protection. The optical fibers, 250μm, are housed in loose tubes made from high-modulus plastic, providing excellent mechanical strength and durability.
Each tube is filled with a water-blocking gel, preventing moisture ingress and protecting fibers from long-term water damage. The tubes and fillers are stranded around a central FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) strength member, creating a compact and round cable core that is completely non-metallic, safe for use near power lines.
The cable core is filled with filling compound for additional water blocking, then covered with a thin PE (polyethylene) inner sheath to provide a smooth and stable structure. A stranded layer of aramid yarns is applied over the inner sheath, offering outstanding tensile strength and resistance to mechanical stress. Finally, the cable is completed with either a PE outer sheath for general outdoor use or an AT (anti-tracking) outer sheath for installation in high-voltage environments (≥110 kV).
